If so, you could be an ideal long-term and contributing team member for our client, a local and growing public accounting firm in Birmingham that specializes in non-profit, governmental, and low-income housing audits. The firm values their employees and has created a culture that allows everyone to get their work done without being micro-managed and within a traditional 40-hour work week. This individual will have the opportunity to take the lead on audit engagements, interact closely with high level executives and work with a team of other Staff Auditors.

 

Typical responsibilities include preparing the following:

  • Perform client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing non-profit, governmental, and low-income housing audit engagements.
  • Research and analyze financial statements and audit related issues using firm resources.
  • Work with engagement team to identify and resolve client issues discovered during the audit.
  • Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances, and risk.
  • Gain comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and leverage that knowledge on engagements.
  • Develop personally and professionally by being active in continuous learning, monitoring industry trends, and applying knowledge to client engagements.
  • Interact with key client management to gather information, resolve audit-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • BS in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of public accounting internship or 1+ years of audit and public accounting experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and deductive reasoning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with clients of various sizes and in various industries.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to solve needs of many various clients in multiple industries.
